Rifki Adriansyah Arif was born in 1999 in Bogor Indonesia on the island of Java. He began violin lessons at the age of 10 with his father Arif Irshad, a self-taught violin maker and repairman. Coming from a large family of six siblings who are all passionate about playing string instruments, his family started the ‘Cibinong Violin Community’ open to all interested amateur violinists in the area who practice Suzuki songs every Sunday at their home.
In 2014 he joined Indonesia’s Got Talent and became one of the semifinalists. In 2014 he also began his formal violin studies with Suzuki violin teacher Therese Wirakesuma. Since then Rifki has participated in a number of master classes including Siripong Tiptan (Thailand), Timothy Durbin (USA), Prof. Sara Michelleto (Italy), Gregory Squire (New Zealand), and Iskandar Widjaja (Germany). Rifki received 1st Prize for the Senior Category of the Korean Music Association Competition 2015 held in Jakarta and 2nd Prize at the Semarang (Java) Open Violin Competition 2015. Rifki has performed as a soloist with orchestra in April 28, 2016 at the 10th Anniversary concert of the community orchestra Camerata Indonesia-Lippo Village and in the Young Artists Concert at the Asia Region Suzuki Conference in Bali June 26-30, 2016. He is excited to explore new music for violin by a contemporary composer.
